Starting of
the studio, OPA
Muralist
: Atsuko Kitamura (Tokyo, 19xx)
It
was 1980. To materialize the world I had as my vision, I created
my very first mural in a high-rise building. Since then, my goal
of mural production has been coexistence of "Arts and Technology",
"Nature and Science". I suggest the public art with a
message towards the next generation.
In
the small island of Japan, its climate with flavorful seasons gave
us a culture based on trees. Fine delicacy from our forefathers
and caring nature of Japanese resulted rich and helpful heart within
everyday life. In old days, all the craftsmen had played a great
role of consumer designer of today. In 1970's, however, new buildings
were rising literally everywhere with incredible rush and speed.
The
warmth of human, it is what I wish to leave this industrializing
soil of Japan. The design, creation and installation of art are
done and made available to public using original methods and materials.
Basic method and material of cloissonné (a.k.a. sippou in
Japan) have existed and shown its durability since ancient Egypt
left us their own art more than a millennium ago. What makes OPA
unique is our installation method (Patent Pending#2000-235390).
It is proven to be safe against strong earthquake. OPA welcomes
your support and understanding towards beauty of lasting culture.
OPA
is an abbreviation of One Point Art. It signifies
finite life and crystallization of energy.
